Jeep's Grand Cherokee large SUV, the hero model in its Australian lineup, is luxuriously big and brawny, is priced right, offers seven-airbag, five-star ANCAP safety and a range of models that extends from the rear-drive 3.6-litre 213kW/347Nm petrol V6 Laredo through 4x4 Limited and off-road-ready Trailhawk, then to the Overland model and the 344kW/624Nm 6.4-litre V8-powered SRT. On top is the stupendous 522kW/868Nm supercharged 6.2-litre V8 Trackhawk. There's another V6 too: A 3.0-litre 184kW/570Nm turbo-diesel available across most of the range. Eight-speed auto transmissions are universal, while autonomous emergency braking is standard from Limited-spec upwards; heated and powered seats and auto-dipping bi-Xenon headlights are universally standard.
